Class Rules

When you walk in the classroom, you should:

• Go say hi to your friends across the classroom

• Grab class handouts (if there are any in blue bin), your journal and and sit in your assigned seat and get started on 'Do Now'

• Chase your crush around the classroom

• Wait for the teacher to come ask you where your notebook is so you can get started

When is it okay to use your phone in the classroom?

• When I'm done with my work and have free time.

• When my mom calls/texts

• When I have the teacher's permission to use it for an academic purpose.

• When I feel like listening to music or texting a friend

I should face ________________ when Ms. Alam is teaching a lesson or giving instructions.

• My shoulder partner. They know everything!

• My laptop where I can play games and watch fun shows/videos.

• Away from the board, so I can pretend there isn't a teacher in the classroom.

• The BOARD where she is showing the steps or her when she is giving instructions.

When is a good time to sharpen your pencil in class?

• As soon as Ms. Alam starts speaking to the class!

• During the 'Do Now' or group work no one's speaking to the class.

• No need to sharpen, who even needs a pencil?

• Right when the clock strikes 12

During group work, or 'You Do' practice, when I'm done earlier than my group/table, I should...

• Get on my phone

• Watch a YouTube video on my laptop

• Talk about lunch

• Help my group mates finish the problem(s)

On a test day, when I'm done early with my test, I should _________

• Put on some music

• Work quietly on my Imagine Math/classwork assigned afterwards

• Talk to other people who are done as well

• Check my instagram stories

At the end of a lesson after I complete my exit ticket, I should

• Put my notebook inside my desk and wait for the bell to ring before I get out of my seat, and make sure to drop off any class handout in the black bin on my way out

• Walk around the classroom

• Be very loud so my crush notices me and everyone in the class thinks I'm really cool

• Play the 'chasing' game with my classmates to celebrate the end of the lesson

When I'm redirected by Ms. Alam, I should

• ignore her and pretend I didn't hear it, she'll stop bugging me.

• Turn my music up, so I can't hear her.

• Correct my behavior right away so there are no further consequences

• Stop, wait for her to leave and then continue. She'll get busy and stop noticing it.

During group work, I can talk to my partner(s) to discuss the questions, so I should

• use this opportunity to be very loud and break into rap songs

• talk to group mates about the work in a low voice so other people can concentrate

• Get on my phone - never waste an opportunity

• walk around the classroom and strect

When putting my notebooks away into the bin

• I should just throw them in

• Make sure they're in the right bin and neatly stacked, or in my assigned desk

• leave in anywhere I like

• Ask a classmate to do it for me
