Spiders are insects that weave webs. One type of web they weave is a tangled web. Tangled webs are 3D which means they are not flat. The spider lays lots of sheets of silk. Above that are some threads of silk that are not sticky. When an insect flies, into the top threads, they tumble downs into the sheets, get stuck, and the spider is there to grab it.
