If you see something in the lab that is dangerous, tell the teacher:

• when you have time

• at once

• never

• after class

Chemical spills cause injuries and additional accidents. Always:

• clean them up at once

• clean them up when you have time

• inform the teacher for cleanup

• clean them up at the end of class

When you work in the laboratory long hair must be:

• combed nicely

• pulled up and away from your face

• held back with both hands

• down

To prevent accidents during lab you should:

• use shortcuts

• hurry ahead of others

• ask someone else how to do the work

• follow your teacher's directions

If acid gets on your clothing or skin, wash it off at once with:

• sulfuric acid

• plenty of running water

• soap

• a base solution

When working in the lab all loose clothes and jewelry must be:

• made of non flammable materials

• left on

• removed or secured

• left hanging loose

Whenever working in the lab you should wear:

• sandals

• shoes without a back

• no shoes

• shoes that cover your entire foot

To put out a fire in a person's hair or clothing, use:

• fire blanket

• wind produced by running

• fire extinguisher

• water from the sink

Approved eye protection devices like goggles are used in the laboratory

• to avoid eye strain

• to wear when working with flames, chemical, heat or glassware

• to improve your vision

• to make you look cool

When you finish working with chemicals, biological specimens, and other lab substances:

• treat your hands with skin lotion

• wipe your hands on your apron

• wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water

• wipe your hands on a towel
