Simple Past, Past Progressive and Future Progressive Tenses

Simple Past tense expresses an action started and finished at a specific time in the past.

Structure of simple past tense (affirmative) is:

Subject+ second form of verb

Eg. He spelled it correctly.

He is the subject and spelled is the second form of verb.
