Problem Size

A HUGE problem is an emergency such as,

• Someone was making fun of me.

• I lost my homework.

• I cried because of a sad video.

A tiny problem would be something like,

• I broke my arm at soccer practice.

• My baby brother lost his favorite toy at the park.

• I dropped my pencil and it rolled under the table.

• I can't sleep because I'm having nightmares.

A medium problem may be when,

• I've tried to solve it myself, but I could use some help.

• Some people wouldn't even think it was a problem.

• I know exactly what to do and can fix is easily.

• There is a safety issue- I'm in danger.

There is a kid in PE that I don't get along with. We argue sometimes. This would be a,

While playing outside at home, a stranger walked up to me and started asking questions about my family. This could be a,

• Tiny problem- not a big deal.

• Great time! Strangers aren't dangerous at all!

• Remember that small problems only need small reactions.

• Running to an adult for help.

• Taking some deep breaths and staying calm.

An expected reaction to a medium problem would be,

• Yelling at anyone that tries to talk to you.

• Asking an adult for a break or some time to talk.

• Doing something mean back to the person who upset you.

Choose ALL of the healthy behaviors.

• Taking deep breaths to calm down.

• Talking to someone you trust about what bothers you.

• Doing something you enjoy to feel better.

• Drawing or writing about what you think and feel.
