How else can you describe expository writing?

• It is strictly nonfiction, nothing but proven facts, and is not interesting to read at all.

What is an objective point of view?

• The author has no opinion one way or the other and keeps the text fact-based and neutral.

• The author has an obvious opinion on what he is writing about and wants the reader to share in it.

• The author is writing about an eye-witness account and really cares about the witness.

• The author is telling a fictional story that gives a lot of opinions.

What is coherence?

• making sure that the reader stays on their toes and completely guessing about the topic

• expanding details and further explaining something so the reader understands better

• making sure all of the information included in the essay relates to the topic

What is a thesis statement?

• expanding details and examples and giving further information to help the reader understand
