Informal Commands

An affirmative command...

• is telling someone to do something.

• is stating a fact about something positive.

• is telling someone to not do something.

• is asking a question starting with no.

To form a regular affirmative tú command:

• drop the ending and add the opposite nosotros ending.

• change it to the yo form and add no.

• Leave it in the infinitive.

• change the verb to él / ella / ud. form in present tense.

To form a regular negative tú command you...

• start with the "yo" form and add the opposite ending.

• add the opposite ending.

• start with the "nosotros" form and add the opposite ending.

• just use the "él", "ella", "Ud." form of the verb.
