General shop safety

Spilled Liquids as water, lacquer, and stain must be cleaned up immediately because:

• It makes the shop dirty

• some liquids can cause fire

• they can cause a person to slip and fall

In case of fire, you should:

• Throw water on it

• Notify the instructor

• Try to smother it with oily rags

When unsure how to use a machine, ask:

If you are in contact with water, and electric wire or cord nearby:

• You are safe as long as you don't move

• You should try to dry up the water with oily shop rags

• move the cord as fast as you can

• Immediately step away from the water and notify the teacher

Running and joking around the shop is not permitted because:

• The shop is not big enough

• It might disturb other classrooms nearby.

• It is dangerous and can cause personal injury

• It's okay as long as your having fun doing it

Most tools are designed for a specific purpose. If they are used incorrectly, the result may be

• Damage to the tool

• Damage to the project

If you are in the shop, you should.
