This part of the empire was from 750 to 945. Baghdad in modern-day Iraq became the center of the Muslim world. Under this group, the empire became a multicultural place with speakers of many language, people of different religions, & different cultural groups.

This part of the empire was from 622-632 and was ruled by the founder of the religion of Islam. The center of this empire was moved from Mecca to Medina.

This part of the empire was from 1517 to 1923. It started as a small kingdom, but grew by taking over land. It nearly doubled the size of the empire. It began to loose power as the world became more modern.

This part of the empire was from 661-750. The main city was moved to Damascus in modern-day Syria. This group took over nearby lands and made Islam the major religion and culture of those conquered lands.

This part of the empire was from 632 to 661. The rulers were all followers or friends of the founder of Islam.

This part of the empire was from from the early 16th to 18th century. It was centered in India. Important rulers included Babur, Akbar, and Aurangzeb. This group was an important part of India's cultural history, including blending Indian & Persian art and architecture. This empire is the reason so many Indians today are Muslim.
