The standard form for a linear equation is Ax + By = C.

Slope -intercept form is y = mx + b.

To re-write standard into slope-intercept form move the x-value to the right by opposite operation and divide both sided of equation by B.

Example: 3x + 4y = 8

(1) Subtract 3x from both sides.

(2) Divide both sides by 4

Answer: y = -3/4x + 2

Re-write in slope-intercept form: 4x + 5y = 25

Standard form: Ax + By = C

Slope-intercept form: y = mx + b

Re-write in slope-intercept form: 5x + 6y = 12

Re-write in slope-intercept form: 2x - 3y = 9

Re-write in slope-intercept form: -4x + 3y = 15

Re-write in slope-intercept form: 5x - 7y = 21

• y = 5/7x - 3

• y = 7/5x - 3

• y = -5/7x - 3

• y = -7/5x + 3

Example: y = 2/3x - 4

(1) Subtract 2/3x from both sides

(2) Multiple each term by 3

Answer: -2x + 3y = -12

Re-write in standard form: y = 4/5x + 3

Standard: Ax + By = C

Slope-intercept form: y = mx + b

Re-write in standard form: y = 3/5x - 4

Re-write in standard form: y = -3/4x + 2

Re-write in standard form: y = -3/5x - 3

Re-write in standard form: y = 5/3x + 2
