KNIGHT

• The knights were heavily armored soldiers who rode on horseback.

FEUDALISM

• The basic government and society in Europe during the Metal Ages.

• The basic government and society in Europe during the Middle Ages.

VASSAL

• A man who served the Noble or Lord in a military capacity.

• A man who served the Romans in a military capacity.

PEASANT OR SERF

• Most of the people living in the Middle Ages were peasants. They had a hard life. Some peasants were considered free and could own their own businesses like carpenters. Others were more like slaves. They owned nothing. They worked long days, 6 days a week and had only the enough food to survive.

• Pleople who fight in wars.

CLERGY

• Church leaders and staff. (Liders i members de l'esglesia)

• Pleople who work in farms.

CASTLE

• A social club.

• A defensive fortification where a lord or king would live. The local people would flee to the castle if they were attacked.

FEUDAL SYSTEM

• A system of working the land.

• A system of government. The king has all the power. The Nobels give loyalty to the king and promise to protect his rule.

KING

• The top ruler in a monarchy.

• The top ruler in a clergy.

TAXES

• A system of raising money. 

• A system of playing cards.

CATTLE

• Cattle were raised principally for making clothes.

• Cattle were raised principally for either milk production or meat.
