Plants and Their Parts

Plants have a lot of parts. Each part does an important job. The roots hold the plant in the dirt. The roots also take in water and food for the plant and carry it to the stem.

Stem

The stem will carry the water and food to the other parts of the plant. The stem also holds up the plant.

Leaves

The leaves catch the sun’s light. The leaves take in air and water. The leaves use lights, air, and water to make food for the plant.

Flower

The flower helps make the fruit and the seeds. The fruit holds the seeds. The fruit helps keep the seeds safe until the seeds can fall to the ground and grow into a new plant.
