Another way to talk about the past is with the imperfect tense. We use the imperfect tense to talk about actions that happened repeatedly in the past.

Example: When I was a little girl, I used to travel with my family a lot.

• Cuando era pequeña/niña, yo viajaba mucho con mi familia.

• Yo viajé con mi familia mucho.

To form the imperfect tense, we remove the endings -ar,-er, and -ir from the infinitive and add the following endings:

• -AR= -aba, -abas, -aba, -ábamos, -abais, -aban

  -ER/IR= -ía, -ías, -ía, -íamos, -íais, -ían

• -AR= -é, -aste, -ó, -amos, -asteis, -aron

  -ER/IR= -í, -iste, -ió, -imos, -isteis, -ieron

Cuando yo ______(viajar) a Miami, _______(tomar) muchas fotos en la playa.

• viajé/tomé

• viajaba/tomaba

Mi familia y yo ______(visitar) los museos de la ciudad durante las vacaciones.

• visitábamos

• visitamos

A veces mis amigos ________(pasear) en el parque de diversiones cuando _______(visitar) a sus abuelos.

• pasearon/visitaron

• pasean/visitan
