Leave No Trace

One of the principles of Leave No Trace is disposing waste properly. What do you think we should do to follow this principle?

• Tell your friend to clean up your litter for you.

• Clean up any trash that you see all the time.

• Clean up all trash after every meal.

• Leave your leftover food and trash out, the animals will help clean them up.

Another principle of Leave No Trace is to always leave what you find. What should we do?

• Go around touching everything that you think looks cool

• Don't pick up nature on a trail, and remind your friends to not do it either.

• Pick up a cool rock that you found on the floor.

Respecting Wildlife is also an important part of leave no trace. You see an animal not far off the trail. What do you do?

• Observe it from a distance, and do not approach it.

• Feed the animal some of your trail food.

• Go up to it and pet it.

• Scare it away.

Always plan and prepare for your trip ahead of time. Also, this includes thinking ahead and realizing what some of your actions will affect in the future. Check all that you should do to prepare, plan, and think ahead.

• Check the forecast for bad weather.

• Choose a date for going on your trip when there is a lot of people.

• Don't repackage your food.

• Know the rules of the area that you will be visiting.

When you are out traveling and camping, choosing durable surfaces is very important. What are things that you will need to do help choose durable surfaces?

• Try to choose established trails, campsites.

• Choose areas with rock, gravel, snow, or dry grasses.

• Make your own campsite.

• Camp closer to a lake or stream.

• Walk in single file, even when wet or muddy

Another principle of Leave No Trace is to Minimize your Campfire Impacts. What is one thing to make sure of when creating a campfire?

• If fires aren't permitted, just light a small one.

• Make sure to use a fire ring when fires are permitted.

• Make sure your fire is big.

• Leave the hot ashes where they are after you are done putting the fire out.

The last principle of Leave No Trace is to Be Considerate of Other Visitors. Check all that you should do to follow this principle.

• Keep the quality of their experience good, and respect them.

• Yield to others on the trail and be courteous to them.

• Avoid making loud noises and keep your voices down.

• Step to the downhill side of the trail when you are encountering pack stock (horses)
