What is the setting?

The sun was shining, and it was so hot. "Come under the slide," A.J. spoke softly to Clark. "I want to show you what I found." Clark nodded to A.J. from on top of the monkey bars and then jumped down to the sand. A small cloud of dust spun up as he landed. Clark trotted over to the slide and crawled under it.

It was snowing and getting dark. Carrie walked through the doors of the building with her package in hand. There was no line so she walked right up to the counter. She handed the man her package. Carrie also asked if she could but stamps.

School just ended, and Alex shut the lid to his laptop with a loud clap. Some of the people sitting at the tables near him looked up from their books and gave him annoyed looks. Alex realized that he had disturbed them and held up his hand to say sorry. The librarian turned toward him and told him to be quiet.
