What is the aim of Drill?

• To make sure that people understand the point

• To put a hole in a piece of wood

• Standing Still

• To produce a cadet who is proud, obedient and alert. It forms the basis for teamwork.

The purpose of drill is to

• get exercise

• move a body of men from one location to another

• ensure cadets have shiny boots

• pay attention to detail

How do junior ranks pay compliments to senior ranks (not officers)?

• You look good today!

• No need to pay compliments

• Brace on their arms and stand at attention, while saying good morning/afternoon

• Tell them to big up themselves

How do junior ranks pay compliments to officers?

• Salute, then say Good morning Sir/Ma'am

• Say Good morning Sir/Ma'am

• Just walk past them

• Go in the opposite direction

During an inspection, the reviewing officers inspects in this order:

• Boots, Pants, Hat, Shirt then Belt

• Shirt and Pants

• Hat, Face, Hair, Shirt, Belt, Pants then Boots

• Hat, Shirt, Belt, Pants then Boots

How to turn left at the halt

• Pivot 90 degrees to the left on ball and heel. Raise right foot parallel to the ground then slam it next to the left to complete the turn. Maintain upper body in position of attention.

• Turn 180-degrees clockwise on ball and heel. Raise left foot parallel to the ground then slam it next to the left to complete the turn. Maintain upper body in position of attention.

• Pivot 90 degrees to the right on ball and heel. Raise left foot parallel to the ground then slam it next to the left to complete the turn. Maintain upper body in position of attention.

• Pivot 90 degrees to the left on ball and heel. Raise left foot parallel to the ground then slam it next to the left to complete the turn. Maintain upper body in position of attention.

How to turn right at the halt

• Pivot 180 degrees to the left on ball and heel. Raise right foot parallel to the ground then slam it next to the left to complete the turn. Maintain upper body in position of attention.

• Pivot 90 degrees to the right on ball and heel. Raise right foot parallel to the ground then slam it next to the left to complete the turn. Maintain upper body in position of attention.

• Pivot 90 degrees to the left on ball and heel. Raise right foot parallel to the ground then slam it next to the left to complete the turn. Maintain upper body in position of attention.

• Pivot 90 degrees to the right on ball and heel. Raise left foot parallel to the ground then slam it next to the left to complete the turn. Maintain upper body in position of attention.

How do we salute?

• Raise right hand to head just over right eyebrow. Right hand is flat, with fingers fully extended, palm facing down.

• Raise right hand above head. Right hand is flat, with fingers fully extended, palm facing forward.

• Raise right hand to head just over right eyebrow. Right hand is flat, with fingers fully extended, palm facing forward.

• Raise left hand to head just over right eyebrow. Left hand is flat, with fingers fully extended, palm facing forward.

What is the "Stand At Ease position?

• Raise left foot parallel to the ground and move it to the left such that heels are about 12-inches apart. Keep head and eyes straight ahead; is immobile and silent.

• Raise left foot parallel to the ground and move it to the left such that heels are about 12-inches apart. Extend arms behind body & place right hand in palm of the left. Keep head and eyes straight ahead; is immobile and silent.

• Raise right foot parallel to the ground and move it to the right such that heels are about 12-inches apart. Extend arms behind body & place right hand in palm of the left. Keeps head and eyes straight ahead; is immobile and silent.

• Raise left foot parallel to the ground and move it to the left such that heels are about 12-inches apart. Extend arms behind body & place right hand in palm of the left.

What is the position of Attention?

• Stand with knees bent. Hands are fisted, along the seams of the trousers. Remain immobile and silent

• Stand and show good posture. Hands are fisted behind the back. Remain immobile and silent

• Stand and show good posture. Hands are fisted at the side, along the seams of the trousers. Remain immobile and silent

• Stand and show good posture. Hands are open, along the seams of the trousers. Remain immobile and silent
