What is a cell?

• Is a straw colored liquid.

• Is the largest cell in the female human body.

• Is the smallest structural and functional unit of life.

• Is a group of organs.

What are the cells that belong to the human body?

• Animal and plant cells

• Guard, xylem and root cells

• Prokaryotic cells

• Muscle, skin, nerve, blood, bone, gamete cells.

Muscle cells:

• protect our body against diseases

• contract and relax to allow us to move our body

Skin Cells:

• form a barrier that prevents harmful substances from entering our body

• carry oxygen from our lungs to other parts of our body

Nerve Cells:

• give our body shape and allow us to move

• carry messages between our brain and other parts of the body.

Red Blood Cells:

• Protect against diseases

• Carry oxygen from our lungs to other parts of our body.

White Blood Cells:

• Protect our body against diseases

• Are needed in reproduction

Bone Cells

• Give our body shape and allow us to move.

• Form a barrier that prevents harmful substances

Gamete Cells

• The ovary produces the egg.

• The testes produces the sperm cell
