Kupang - The high seismic activity in Mount Lewi Ile Lewotolok caused hundreds of people to evacuate and some schools were chased away.

"Today all schools in Ile Ape Sub-district, Ile Ape Timur, Nubatukan and Pesisir Lebantai are closed for the next three days while the situation," said Vice Regent of Lembata, Thomas Ola Langoday, Wednesday (11/10/2017).

"There are 26 villages around Ile Lewotolok affected by this earthquake," said Thomas.

The earthquake also caused a 2.3 kilometer highway covered by large rocks from avalanches, 11 heavily damaged homes, and 29 lightly damaged houses. "Everything is in the village of Bungamuda," said Thomas.

"Stone ruins occur from Tuesday, October 10 and still continue to this day," he added.

Until now, he said, the number of refugees reached 743 people concentrated in the old office (rujab) of the Regent. Of these, as many as 224 people in family shelters and 161 people in Ile Ale district office.

"For coastal villages in Lebatukan sub-district including Lamatuka village, it is still safe," he said.

Food supplies and the need at the shelter center are very limited, relying only on the stock of social services. "Please help us," Thomas demanded.
