The Rites of Hajj

What is Hajj?

• Pilgrimage to Makkah

Hajj is performed

• 8th -12th of August

• 8th - 12th of Muharram

• 12-18th of Ramadan

• 8th - 12th of Dhul Hijjah

For a woman ihram is

• A white dress and hijab

• her regular clothing

• 2 pieces of white cloth

• a white head band around her hijab

Umrah can be made

• any time of the year

• only at the beginning of Hajj

• only during Hajj

• only during the month of Ramadan

The first obligatory act of Hajj is

• Umrah

• Spending the night at Muzdalifah

• spending the day in prayer at Arafat

• Stoning the Jamarah

Sa'ee is performed

• between Safa and Marwah

• at the Ka'bah

After spending the 9th of Dhul Hijjah in prayer at Arafat

After stoning the Jamarah Al Aqabah pilgrims

• slaughter an animal, cut their hair, and go home

• slaughter an animal, cut their hair, make tawaf and return to Mina

• slaughter an animal, cut their hair, and make Umrah

If you enter Makkah to make Hajj and you are not in ihram you must

• bath with unscented soap and put on your ihram

• make tawaf and ask Allah's forgiveness

• go to Mina and put on your ihram

• go to a Miqat and put on your ihram

The last rite of Hajj, before you leave you

• make Umrah

• make a farewell tawaf called Tawaf al Wadaa

• go to the miqat and remove your ihram

• go to Madina to visit the Prophet's Mosque
