Last summer, James and Jose opened a lemonade stand to raise money to benefit their local animal shelter. Although their lemonade might not be categorized as the “best lemonade” in town, each Saturday proved successful as patrons became more aware of where the money was going. It wasn’t uncommon for the entire neighborhood to purchase a glass of freshly squeezed lemonade from their stand during a given weekend. On Sundays, the money garnished was used to supply much needed dog food for the animal shelter.

Frogs have an assortment of skin tones: blue, green, purple, black, and red. Most poisonous frogs have brilliantly vivid hues. A predator who feasts on a poisonous frog will never forget that bright color! Frog skin is also porous, or absorbent, which means water enters and leaves their bodies rapidly. For this reason their habitat is in close proximity to and in water.

Frogs spend a considerable amount of their time in water. Their webbed feet help them paddle, and their strong legs help propel, or push, them quickly as they swim. They don’t need fins because their hind legs and webbed feet work simultaneously to evade predators.

Why don’t frogs need fins?

A professional animal trainer works diligently with all sorts of animals. The focus is on teaching directives, or commands, that the animal can follow and complete. The trainer uses treats to communicate to the animal when a command is properly executed. With enough repetitions, the monkey can learn exactly what the trainer wants the monkey to do. Jessica’s monkey learned how to successfully open a door during its very first lesson.

Even the best trained dogs can go venture beyond their homestead. That’s why many pet owners have microchips installed as a precaution. How will someone know who the dog’s owner is if it has no collar or tags? A microchip contains pertinent information including an identification number assigned to the animal which makes it easier and faster to reunite owner’s and their pets.

Microchips are easily and quickly implanted just under the skin in a dog or cat. Once the chip is in place, it goes unnoticed by the animal due to its minute size, that of a grain of rice. This microchip is activated by a scanner that reads and transmits the identification number to a computer screen where it can be read.
