Aperture

• A quick closing door in the camera

• A fixed opening that lets light into the camera

Aspect Ratio

• Someone's height in relation to their weight

• Someone's height/width in relation to how much space they fill in the photo.

• The size of an image's height and width.

AF

• Slang that should not be used in the classroom.

• Auto Focus

• Aperture Focus

• Aperture Fold

Bulb

• Using an outside flash to get enough light.

• Setting that lets the camera let in light for the length of time the shutter button is being pushed.

• You put a light bulb on top of the camera to get light.

Burst Mode

• When one picture is taken really bright

• When the camera takes a number of shots quickly one after another

• When you push and hold the shutter button to take many shots.

Candid

• A type of candy given to kids during portraits

• A shot taken of someone who wasn't expecting it as they are completing an action - not posing

• A posed photos like a portrait

Chromatic Aberration

• When all of the items in a picture are the same color

• When you take a picture that's reflected in chrome.

• An effect caused by refracted light that creates green or purple lines around the subject.

What is photo composition?

• How the camera works to take a picture

• The way a scene is put together in the frame of the camera to take the picture

What is contrast?

• When two things are different from each other.

• When there is dark and light areas in a photo.

• When everything in the photo is equally light or dark.
