Who is Cædmon?

• Cædmon is a Geatish hero who fights the monster Grendel, Grendel’s mother, and a fire-breathing dragon.

• Cædmon was a Ranger of the North, first introduced with the name Strider and later revealed to be the heir of Isildur, King of Gondor.

• Cædmon was the first Old English Christian poet, whose fragmentary hymn to the creation remains a symbol of the adaptation of the aristocratic-heroic Anglo-Saxon verse tradition to the expression of Christian themes.
