A river's water levels began to rise very high and washed out a major bridge in the community. What is the best question we could ask about the bridge falling down?

• Was there a major rainstorm that caused the water levels to rise?

• Are there too many fish in the river that caused the water to rise?

• Did too many humans drive across the bridge and weigh it down?

A man lives near a river and decides to remove the trees near the river. What will MOST LIKELY happen to the soil on the side of the river when heavy rains fall?

• New trees will grow.

While riding in a car you notice a field with kudzu covering the trees. The trees do not have any leaves. What is a question you can ask about what happened to the trees in the field?

A beaver made a dam in a pond near a playground. One day the playground flooded. What is a question you can ask about what caused the playground to flood?

• Did broken sprinklers on the playground cause the playground to flood?
