Oracy Time

Oracy is the ability to

• dance

• be a good human being

• communicate effectively

• prove you're always right

Asking probing questions help us

• find more information and get detailed answers

• prove someone wrong

• to be a better person

• appear sociable

An active listener

• listens quietly and doesn't give any feedback so as to not interrupt the speaker

• makes eye contact and responds to show they are interested in what someone is saying

• looks here and there so that the speaker doesn't feel nervous while talking

• uses his phone during conversations to find relevant information

Oracy is a

• action

• verb

• skill

• talent

while expressing our points of view we must:

• prove that what we are saying is right at all costs

• practive selective listening

• speak loudly to prove we're right

• give reasons to support our opinions

when we disagree with someone else's point of view

• we should tell them they know nothing

• we should express our disagreement politely

• we should mock at them

• we should pass judgements

Words of encouragement could sound like:

• I love you

• That sounds awesome. I would love to try it

• I wish I had what you have

• I am so bad at this

When we listen to other people's ideas, we can give encouragement by:

• Being interested and making positive comments

• Sounding interested but not actually paying attention

• Telling them how incapable we are

• Telling they they're the best
