Harvest

A harvest festival is

• where food is stored and saved

• a celebration of food that is grown on land

• a collection of lots of different food

During Harvest Festival people offer thanks to

In the past it was not always easy to find food in (a)   so it was important that farmers brought the harvest in before the cold weather.

What happens in Spring?

• The fields are harvested

• The plants grow big

• The seeds are planted and the food begins to grow.

What happens in summer?

• The farmer collects the grains, fruits and vegetables

• The plants grow and if they have fruit it begins to ripen

What happens in Autumn?

• When the plants are ready they are harvested by the farmers ready for us to eat.(fruits, grains and vegetables)

• The plants grow really big and they are ripe.

Why do farmers use machines, such as combine harvesters, instead of picking crops by hand?

• because it's too dangerous by hand.
