when  $shape\ number\times n+1$  and the repeating pattern is 3,  the 20th number in the sequence is,

•  $20\times3+1=61$  

•  $1\times3+1=4$  

•  $20\times1+3=23$  

when creating a function rule,

• first we look for what is newly added to create the new shape and then repeating pattern

• first we look for a repeating pattern and then what is newly added to create the new shape

• we look for repeating patterns only

find the missing number in the pattern. 73, 66, ......, 52, 45

 $\left(shape\ number\ \times n+1=\ 51\right)$  substitute the shape number with 5 and the value of n would be,
