What is the theme?

Gracie wanted to try out for the end of year school play, but was afraid she wouldn't get the part she wanted. She decided to practice reciting her lines every night in front of a mirror, and sometimes her family. Even some friends came over to watch her practice. Her parents were impressed by how much she had improved. When the time came to try out, Gracie nailed it and got the part.

What is the theme?

Nelson and some of his friends were playing basketball on the school's blacktop. Everyone was having a great time until Nelson started losing. He began calling everyone names and making fun of people's shots. This happened every time Nelson wasn't winning at something. Soon, Nelson was the only one left. Everyone else had gone to the other hoop because Nelson would not stop with the name-calling. He got upset and went home.

• Sometimes it's ok to be grumpy

Zoey walked by one of the nicest neighborhoods in town everyday after school. She couldn't believe how beautiful the houses were. She would always ask her mom if they could move there. Her mom told her that although their house wasn't the biggest or the prettiest, they had a roof over their heads and a place to sleep each night.

What is the theme?

Mr. Walters let everyone bring in a toy of their own for recess every Friday. Kyson proudly brought in his red remote controlled car. When Josh asked to see it, Kyson snatched his controller away and told him no. Kyson brought in a set of trading cars the next week. Again, Kyson wouldn't let anyone see or play with them. During the next recess, Kyson noticed that nobody asked to see his Nintendo Switch. He sat quietly in the corner and watched everyone share and play with each other's toys.

Marley was walking to the basketball courts when he noticed a group of kids he knew from school. When he got closer, he could see that they were throwing rocks at an old abandoned house's windows. The group begged Marley to join them. Marley said no even though he knew he would be teased the next day at school for not doing what the other guys were doing. Marley went on his way and had a great time playing basketball.
