One summer's day, a merry Grasshopper was dancing, singing and playing his violin with all his heart. He saw an Ant passing by working hard to store food for the winter. “Come and sing with me instead of working so hard,” said the Grasshopper “Let’s have fun together.” “I must store food for the winter,” said the Ant,“ and I advise you to do the same.” “Don’t worry about winter, it’s still very far away,” said the Grasshopper, laughing at him. But the Ant wouldn’t listen and continued to work. When winter came, the starving Grasshopper went to the Ant’s house and humbly begged for something to eat. “If you had listened to my advice in the summer you would not now be in need,” said the Ant. “I’m afraid you will have to go without supper,” and he closed the door.

Matt and Jeff looked at the map their running coach had just handed out. For practice that day, they were to run a three-mile route to the town library and then back to the school. They set off to run the route with their teammates. The runners began to spread out, but Matt and Jeff continued to run side by side, discussing how they can shorten the route. They agreed on a short cut that would save them several blocks. They ended up getting back to the school just after the fastest runners on the team, and no one realized they didn't run the entire route. They started doing this every practice.

Soon, it was time for their first track meet. There were people along the entire course, so there was no way for them to take a short cut. About half way through the race Matt and Jeff began to become tired. Soon after that, they slowed down considerably. They finished the race but were the last two members of their team to finish. There coach was shocked since they were usually among the first ones to finish at practice.

Matt and Jeff didn't like finishing last. From that day on, Matt and Jeff ran the entire route at practice.

Jada couldn't believe what had just happened. They were on their way home from dance practice, and she saw her dad do it. His phone buzzed indicating he received a text. He had picked it up to read the message, and then started texting as he was driving. What happened next was terrifying. The driver in front of them suddenly hit the breaks and Jada's dad didn't notice. Jada screamed as her dad swerved the car at the right time. Now they were in a ditch. Her dad turned to her and said "Jada, are you okay?" Jada said trembling "I think so."

Jada's father responded, "i'm so sorry I can't believe I put your life at risk like that, I will never pick up my phone while driving again!"
