What is the theme?

Tim and Theo were having lunch at Burger Barn. Tim ordered a regular hamburger.

“A plain burger? That is so boring!” scoffed Theo.

Then, Theo ordered the Extreme Burger. It had four beef patties, mushrooms, onions, bacon, and pineapples on it. The whole thing was covered in sour cream, not mustard, and a secret sauce. When the Extreme Burger arrived, it was as big as a spaceship. Theo took a bite, Yuck! It tasted terrible! So Tim offered Theo half of his plain burger. Theo gladly accepted and a plain burger never tasted better to him.

What is the theme?

Clara loved bubble gum. Whenever she saw a machine, she would drop in a quarter and get a gumball. Chomp! Chomp! Then she’d blow a big bubble and POP! On her tenth birthday, Clara unwrapped a big box. It was her very own gumball machine. She didn’t need quarters anymore. Clara kept turning the knob, getting gumball after gumball. Soon her mouth was filled with a huge glob of gum. She chewed it until her jaw was sore. She blew a big bubble until SPLAT! The bubble burst all over her face and even got stuck in her hair. Her mom had to cut the gum out of Clara’s hair.
