The Oregon Trail Migration is an important event in American history. The Oregon Trail is over 2,000 miles long and spans from Missouri to Oregon. Early pioneers who traveled this trail made the trip in large groups. They would ride in covered wagons pulled by mules, horses, and cattle. It was an extremely dangerous and deadly trip. They faced many hardships including, disease and harsh conditions such as raging rivers and mountain passages. People wanted to go west for different reasons, some wanted to farm land and others wanted to search for gold. Over 500,000 people made the 5-6 month long trip.
