Identify the text structure:

The first mobile phone came on the market in 1983. Though the clunky, brick-shaped phones became a popular reference in movies and television, most average people did not really use them. The term “cell phone” first appeared in 1979, in reference to the way mobile phone networks would serve specific regions or “cells.” Nokia brought a smaller phone to the market in 1999. Making the batteries smaller and the prices lower became a priority for a lot of the companies selling cell phones at the time. Only recently have some companies started making larger cell phones rather than making them smaller and smaller.

Identify the text structure:

The water cycle is powered by the sun, which heats the surface of the ocean and Earth to create water vapor. Water vapor moves through the air, up into Earth’s atmosphere, in a process called evaporation. Clouds are formed in the atmosphere as the vapor collects. This is called condensation. After a lot of water is gathered, precipitation, such as rain, happens. After the rain, water collects on the ground and in lakes and oceans to evaporate again.

Identify the structure:

In large, urban cities, traffic is often one of the biggest obstacles in getting from one place to another. For example, a person might live thirty minutes away from their job, but with traffic, it takes them at least an hour to get there. There are a few ways to improve this issue. One would be to increase and improve types of public transportation like buses and trains, giving commuters another way to get to work and lowering the number of cars on the road. Some cities, like London, impose specific taxes and regulations to discourage residents from driving or even owning a car in the city. While this might be aggravating for some, it does improve the overall quality of transportation in the city.

Identify the structure:

The moon and the sun both seem to “shine” down on Earth. However, only one of them emits light. The sun does “shine,” creating its own light. The moon, however, simply reflects the sun’s light back onto Earth. It does not create its own light.
