If a verb ends in vowel + -y, add -ing.

If a verb ends in vowel + -y, add -ies.

If a verb ends in vowel + -y, add -es.

If a verb ends in vowel + -y, add -ed.

If a verb ends in a consonant-consonant -vowel (CCV) pattern, double the final consonant and add -ed.

If a verb ends in a vowel-consonant-consonant (VCC) pattern, double the final consonant and add -ed

If a verb ends in a consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) pattern, double the final consonant and add -ed

If a verb ends in a vowel-vowel-consonant (VVC) pattern, double the final consonant and add -ed

To make continuous verb add -ied to the verb.

To make continuous verb add -es to the verb.

For short, one-syllable verbs, that end with consonant + vowel + vowel (CVV), we must double the last consonant and then add -ing.
