When it is born, an elephant calf weighs about 200 pounds. In the wild, a male calf stays with his mother
until he is about 14 years old. A female calf lives with her mother until the mother dies.

Because they are smart animals, elephants are easy to teach. Maybe you have seen them do tricks at a
zoo or circus. In some parts of the world, elephants are used as workers. For an elephant, the chore of pushing
over a giant tree is almost too easy!
