Unit 3 Cells

Basic unit of life.

Organelle surrounding ALL cells! It regulates the materials that enter and leave the cell.

Fluid portion of the cell outside the nucleus. This is where transport occurs within a cell.

Simple, small cells that do not have a nucleus and most organelles. Bacteria are an example of this cell type.

Complex, large cells that have a nucleus and most organelles. Plant and animal cells are examples of this cell type.

"Little organs" or structures found INSIDE cells that perform specific life functions.

Organelle that is the outside layer that shapes, supports, and protects plant cells and prokaryotic cells.

Organelle that contains the genetic information (DNA) of an organism.

Small organelles that synthesize proteins. Can be found on the rough ER and the cytoplasm.

Organelle filled with enzymes that breaks down complex molecules or worn-out organelles.
