Marin was a bookworm. She loved reading. One day, a classmate asked Marin is she would like to go ice skating. Marin responded, “I’ve read about ice skating, and it can be very dangerous. No thank you.” On another day, a different classmate asked her if she would like to come over to bake a cake. “No way. I’ve read about baking cakes. It’s way too difficult.” Pretty soon, no one asked Marin to hang out. However, she did read about friends in her beloved books. What is the theme?

Madison was a bit of a packrat. She just couldn’t bear getting rid of her treasured collections. However, they were beginning to take over her room. One day, her mother had had enough with Madison’s messy room. “Go upstairs, clean your room, and don’t come out until it’s done.” Madison followed her mother’s instructions until her friend called. Everyone was going to the mall, and Madison wanted to go. Since Madison knew she should clean her room first, she quickly shoved everything under her bed. Then, she headed out to the mall with her friends. That night, she needed to find her homework, but in her “clean” room, she couldn’t find it anywhere! What is the theme?

One day as he was teasing a fourth grader, he felt a firm hand on his shoulder. “Ouch,” cried Howard. “Stop!” Howard looked over his shoulder to see who was touching him.
