Expectations Refresher

Our first rule is: Follow directions the first time. How do we do that in this class?

Our second rule is: Be seated and ready to work when the bell rings. When we enter this class we . . .

• Mingle around other people's desks to spread COVID

• Enter quietly

• Grab necessary materials from the baskets

• Read the directions in the talking bubble AND actually follow them

• Sit around until the bell rings and then get started

Our third rule is: Remain in seat or designated area. This is important because . . .

• Mrs. Johnson's #1 Never-ever is to get out of seat without permission.

• Mrs. Johnson is weird. Being out of seat is no big deal.

• If you're out of seat, you're not on task.

• If you're out of seat, you're probably distracting others.

Our fourth rule is: Be active listeners. BUT isn't it good enough to just be quiet?

• Yes, you're not distracting anyone.

• No, you need to pay attention to actually learn.

• Yes, it shows respect if you're quiet.

• No, you need to ask questions if you don't understand.

Our fifth rule is: Leave cell phones and other distractions in your backpack. What are some other distractions we should also avoid.

• Tapping, stomping or weird noises of any kind.

• Talking out without raising hands or being called on, even if the comment is technically on-task.

• Rude comments, gossip, etc.

• Tiny plastic babies.

Speaking of rude comments, name-calling and gossip, in this class we . . .

• Choose KIND.
