What is a review?

• A review is something you write on Amazon.

• A review makes you consider the thing.

• A review is a piece of writing which gives an opinion about anything.

• A review is necessary to write after every film you watch.

What must a review contain?

• Star rating out of 5.

• Star rating out of 10.

• Star rating out of 3.

• Star rating out 0f 9.

You MUST include in the review...

• What it isn't about.

• What your Grandmother thought of the film.

• An alternative ending.

• What it is about.

It is imperative you include what in a review?

• The name of every single actor/actress.

• The name of the significant actors/actresses.

• The director.

• The screenwriter.

It is imperative you include what in a review?

• What you ate when you watched/read it.

• What you liked about it.

• When you're going to see it again.

It is imperative you include what in a review?

• What you disliked about it.

• What songs were in it.

• Where you saw it.

You can write a review about...

• A film

• Anything!

• Music

• A book

Direct Address is when...

• A question designed to make the reader think, which doesn’t need an answer.

• When the writer speaks to the reader using ‘you’ / ‘we’ / ‘us’

• A group of three words for effect: e.g. ‘brave, bold and free’

• A number-based fact that is taken from research: e.g. percentage or fraction.

Alliteration is when...

• A view or judgement about something that can be argued ‘for’ or ‘against’.

• When a sort phrase or word is used over and over again to emphasise point: e.g. I have a dream.

• Language that is designed to stir up powerful or strong emotions in reader: e.g. ‘his life had been wrecked by the heartless politicians’

• When two or more words close together begin with the same letter and sound: e.g. See it, Say it, Sorted.

A fact is...

• Something that can be proven real or true.

• Personal story about the topic of the text.

• When a sort phrase or word is used over and over again to emphasise point: e.g. I have a dream.
