Boots cover the entire foot and may cover part of the calf or lower leg as well. Sandals, on the other hand, leave portions of the foot (often the toes and heel) exposed. Boots are well suited for colder temperatures or potentially dangerous work environments. Sandals are best suited for warmer temperatures and are not well suited for work environments where the wearer may be lifting or moving objects that could be dropped.

Have you ever tried to build a snowman and failed? The science of snowman construction is actually more complicated than it may seem at first. The most important first step is to wait until conditions are just right. You'll want the snow to be close to 30 degrees Fahrenheit (-1 degree Celsius) with just a little bit of moisture in it. You'll know if the temperature is too high, as the snow will be very wet and weak. If the snow is too dry, it will be too powdery to form stable snowballs. Once you have the perfect snow, choose an appropriate location to build your snowman where it will last longer than a few hours. Try to find a place away from hills and out of the wind. Finally, build your snowman using these size guidelines: 3 feet in diameter for the foundation, 2 feet in diameter for the torso, and 1 foot in diameter for the head. Once you master the science of building a snowman, you'll be ready to tackle the art of dressing him.
