Today my family and I went downtown to the German American Heritage Festival. It was so much fun! We enjoyed the bratwurst sausages. Delicious! We met many people whose families came from Germany in the 1800s. That was really cool! We heard lots of people speaking German. I could understand a little bit. I learned that decorating a Christmas tree started in Germany. It's called a Tannenbaum. I learned so much about my heritage! You will have to come with us to the festival next year.

The German American Heritage Festival sounds like fun!

My family always goes to the Pulaski Days Festival because we are Polish American. We moved from Poland when I was only 2 years old. My parents and grandparents speak Polish, but I only know a few words. At Pulaski Days, we dance the polka. After we dance, we eat pierogis. My favorite are the ones filled with potatoes & cheese, dipped in sour cream!

When you come to visit, I will teach you to polka, and then you can dance with us at Pulaski Days next year!
