Professional food eater Joey Chestnut of San Francisco, California, won this contest seven years in a row from 2007 to 2014. Chestnut's best record was in 2013 when he ate 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes.
Another famous competitive eater is Sonya Thomas, who was born in Korea but now lives in the U.S. She began competing in 2002 and quickly became champion.
Thomas's best record in Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest was 45 hot dogs in 2012. Some of her other personal records include eating 11 pounds of cheesecake in nine minutes and eating 65 hard-boiled eggs in six minutes and 40 seconds.
Competitive food eaters eat a little bit of food for a long time.
