Autotroph: An organism that makes its own food

Bacteria: Single-celled organisms that lack a nucleus; prokaryotes

Binomial nomenclature: System when organisms are assigned a two-part scientific name (genus and species)

Characteristic/trait: A feature of an organism that can be structural or behavioral

Classify: The grouping and labeling of organisms in a systematic way, based on similarities

Fungi: Kingdom composed of multicellular heterotrophs; many obtain energy and nutrients from dead organic matter

Heterotroph: Organism that obtains energy from consuming other organisms

Kingdom: Taxonomic rank below Domain

Scientist: A person who studies science

Species: A group of similar organisms that can breed and produce fertile offspring; smallest level of classification
