Why do we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit again when we already received it at our Baptism?

• We were too young to remember getting the Gifts of the Holy Spirit at our Baptism so we received them again.

• It's a strengthening of our Baptism and opportunity to take and share the Gifts of the Holy Spirit with others.

• It's always nice to get gifts.

What special day, experienced by the early apostles, do we remember when we receive our Sacrament of Confirmation?

Why do we use the Oil of Chrism during Confirmation?

• It smells nice.

• Once it goes on, it will never come off.

• This oil symbolises the anointing of the Holy Spirit and this spirit helps us to persevere with our faith and our life with God.

What special words does the Bishop say when you are anointed with the Chrism Oil?

• Be Sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit.

• The Gift of the Holy Spirit if now with you.

• In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Why do we see the colour red represented at Confirmation?

• Red represents power and strength.

• Red is a bright colour and it stands out.

• It represents the fire of the Holy Spirit from Pentecost.

Who is a sponsor at Confirmation?

• A business partner who will support you financially during your Confirmation preparation.

• They are similar to a God Parent at Baptism. They have a responsibility to help the person being confirmed in their life of faith.

• A friend or family member that you really like.

What is a Confirmation name?

• The name of a family member such as a Grandparent or a Grandmother.

• A name you really like and sound good between your Baptism name and Surname.

• It's generally the name of a Saint who is a positive example to us in how we live our lives.

Confirmation is traditionally the final initiation into the Catholic Church. What does this mean?

• You’ve received all the sacraments you need to and now have the power to journey through life on your own.

• Initiation means the beginning. It's the beginning of our mission through Jesus in the life of the Church.

• It's the end of our life of life in the Church.
