Do not use your horn

• On a narrow mountain road

• Because you are angry

• To avoid a collision

Use your headlights

• When it is raining

• In the middle of the day

• When you forget your glasses

To notify drivers you have an emergency or car trouble

• Lift the hood of your car, turn on emergency flashers

• Turn all of your lights off

• Turn on your parking lights, lift up the trunk

If you have car trouble and need to stop

• Pull off the road, if safe, away from traffic

• Use the carpool lane for an emergency stop

• Stop in the far right lane

If you see a collision ahead

• Call 911

• Keep driving, do not stop

• Tap your brake quickly or turn on your emergency flashers

When driving under 18 years of age, it is illegal

• To use a cell phone away from the vehicle

• To text

• To call 911 in an emergency

A minor is allowed to use a cell phone only

• In an emergency situation

• When lost

• not at all

Drivers who present dangers are

• Drivers using electronic devices

• Drivers who can see you

• Drivers with clean windows

An example of a distracted driver is

• Driver talking on a cell phone, or to passengers

• Alert, focused driver

• A driver scanning and not speeding

When you enter a freeway, you should be driving

• The legal speed of the freeway

• 10 mph slower than the flow of traffic

• At or near the same speed as the freeway traffic
