Sacco and Vanzetti were two Italian immigrants who were known anarchists. With very little evidence, they were convicted of murder! They were convicted mostly because they were immigrants and known anarchists. McCarthy accused 52 state department employees of being communists. Some lost their jobs, and were harassed, with no evidence that they were communists (because they weren't).
