Earthquake

if you are in bed...

• touch your stomach and cover your eyes with a pillow

• roll onto your stomach, cover your head and neck with a pillow

• roll onto your stomach, cover yourself with the blanket and close your eyes

• get out of bed and run to the exit.

if you are in a classroom...

• cover your head with a wide brimmed hat.

• don't cover your head with anything

• take cover under a desk and hold on

• cover your head with a book

if you are in a lab or other areas with chemicals or marchery...

• be aware of all hazards before you drop, cover, and hold on.

• be aware of your surroundings.

• be aware of the air conditioning

• be aware of the size and position of the load and the loading area.

if you are using a wheelchair or walker...

• lie flat and cover your head

• go to a safe place

• go to the nearest elevator

• lock your wheels if possible, then cover your head and neck and hold on until shaking stops

if you are in a store...

• move quickly and head to the front door

• move quickly to a protected area

• move quickly in order to make for the lost time

• keep calm and stay in your place

if you are driving...

• turn your wheels safely into the curb, and be sure to set the parking brake

• Get out of the vehicle and run to the nearest tree

• Stop, set the parking brake, stay in the vehicle until shaking stops

• stop to stretch and walk every hour or so
