BASIC ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT

It is a path or line through which an electrical current flows.

An electrical circuit that allows a current to travel along an unintended path with no or

very low electrical impedance. This results in an excessive current flowing through the circuit.

The path may be closed (joined at both ends), making it a loop. A closed circuit makes

electrical current flow possible.

Cut off the flow of current, when the appliance will not be in use. When the switch is

closed, the circuit is closed and electricity flows on the other hand if the switch is open, the

circuit will be open too and there will be no flow of electricity.

It is the current consuming device or appliance that will consume the electrical energy

of the circuit. It can be a light or buzzer that lights when the circuit is on.

Lamps are arranged in chain, so that the current has

only one path to take if one lamp is busted all will not light

up. The reason is that the current cannot pass through the

bulb because of the filament is cut. So there is no continuity

for current in order to go back to the power source. The

current is the same through each load.

Lamps are connected across the wires. The voltage across

each load on parallel circuit is the same. The advantage of

using parallel circuit is that even if one of the lamps fails, still

the remaining lamps will function because current passes

separately in each circuit.
