Table Grinder & Buffer Safety Test

The best eye protection when using a grinder is:

• sunglasses
• face shield
• safety glasses
• face shield and safety glasses

Unless special permission from the instructor has been given, items to be ground or buffed should be held with

• gloves

• rag

• bare hand

• gloves or rag

The tool rest on the grinder must be set away from the grinding wheel not more than:

• 1/8 inch
• 1/4 inch
• 1/2 inch
• 3/4 inch

When using the buffer, you must wear:

• face shield and safety glasses
• face shield
• sunglasses
• safety glasses

Small pieces of material should not be ground or buffed:

• during class time

• after school

• can only be done if clamped down to the table and you use a portable grinder/buffer so you are not holding it with your hands

When buffing or brushing, always hold the material against the wheel in such a way:

• as to apply pressure to the top half of the wheel
• so that it will catch the edge of the matrial
• so it will not catch the edge of the material
• all options are correct

If you have to buff a project with a sharp edge, you will be better off pointing the sharp edge:

• up
• down
• to the side
• into the wheel

Before using a grinder check for:

• loose wheel
• chipped or cracked wheel
• trueness of wheel
• all options are correct

When buffing, the material must be held:

• above the center line of the wheel
• below the center line of the wheel
• anywhere on the wheel

The grinder wheel should not be used if the guards have been:

• removed
• are not adjusted properly
• all options are correct
