Progressive verbs have the suffix

• -ing

• -ly

• -s

• -ed

Verbs can include more than one word. These are called

• the helping verb and the main verb.

• the subject and the verb.

Verbs

• name a person place or thing.

• describe actions or state of being by the subject of the sentence.

A progressive verb

• re-identifies the subject.

• ends in "-ing", often has a helping verb, and shows an action that is repeating.

• is a verb that only needs "-s" to show present tense.
