What's the name of the second son David had with Bathsheba?

Jesse

Davidson

Solomon

Adamu

Answer explanation

When David first saw Bathsheba, she was bathing, and he sent for her. He slept with her and she became pregnant. When he heard that she had a husband, he had her husband put at the front of the battle lines so that he would be killed. After her husband was killed he married her and she gave birth to his son. (We know the child was a boy because, in 2 Samuel 11:27, it says she bore him a son). God was mad at him for what he did so he sent a prophet to David. The prophet told him that because of what he had done, his son wasn't going to live very much longer. The child died after only living a week. After this Bathsheba became pregnant again. She gave birth to another son and they named him Solomon. Solomon later succeeded David as king of Israel. This story can be found in 2 Samuel 11-12.

MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

My name is Phinehas. My father was a faithful high priest but he did not correct my brother and me for our wrongdoing and so we were disobedient to God and to him. Do you know the name of our dad who allowed us to do as we pleased?

Samuel

Elkanah

Hophni

Eli

Answer explanation

In spite of Eli being a faithful high priest, 1 Samuel 1:3, 2:12-17 and 3:13 tell the story of his failure to correct his sons Hophni and Phinehas. They therefore did things that were displeasing to God. He was too lenient with his boys and did not train them in the way he should have; he spared the rod and their lives ended tragically in battle.

According to Scripture which woman was the first to become the mother of twins?

Rebekah

Eve

Sarah

Leah

Answer explanation

Rebekah gave birth to the first set of twins -- Esau and Jacob. Their births are recorded in the 25th chapter of Genesis. Esau was born minutes before his brother. And although they were twins, the two would grow up to become bitter adversaries, sharing little in common. Scripture states Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the open country, while Jacob was content to stay at home among the tents. Isaac, the father of the boys, favored Esau while Rebekah loved Jacob. Later in life, Jacob would cheat Esau of their father's blessing with the end result being Jacob fleeing for his life with Esau plotting to kill him.

Solomon, of course, ended up replacing his father David as king of Israel. However, another brother of Solomon had for a while claimed to be the king. What's the brother's name? (1 Kings 1:5)

Eliab

Abinadab

Adonijah

Jesse

Answer explanation

While David was advanced in years, Adonijah set himself up as king. Bathsheba, David's most famous wife and mother of Solomon, however, thwarted Adonijah's plans and Solomon became king, as per David's plans. In 1 Kings 2: 25, Solomon instructs Benaiah to kill Adonijah, and so ends the story of a would-be king.
