Elbow Joint AP Projection: Patient Position ______________

• The shoulder, elbow, and wrist joints should be at the same level

• Seated at the end of the radiographic table

• Patient's height and table height so forearm is resting on table

• The entire upper limb at the same level

Elbow Joint AP Projection: Part Position ______________

• Flex elbow 90 degrees with humeral epicondyles perpendicular with plane of IR

• Extend elbow and supinate hand

• Extend elbow and pronate hand

• Humeral epicondyles parallel with plane of IR

Elbow Joint AP Oblique Projection Medial Rotation: Patient Position ______________

• Patient's height and table height so forearm is resting on table

• Seated at the end of the radiographic table

• The entire upper limb at the same level

• The shoulder, elbow, and wrist joints should be at the same level

Elbow Joint AP Oblique Projection Medial Rotation: Part Position ______________

• Place anterior surface of elbow at an angle of 45 degrees

• Extend elbow and supinate hand

• Extend elbow and pronate hand

• Laterally/Externally rotate elbow

Elbow Joint AP Oblique Projection Medial Rotation: Part Position ______________

• Place anterior surface of elbow at an angle of 45 degrees

• Extend elbow and supinate hand

• Extend elbow and pronate hand

• Medially/Internally rotate elbow

Elbow Lateral Projection: Patient Position

• Patient's height and table so forearm is resting on table

• The entire upper limb at the same level

• Seated at the end of the radiographic table

• The shoulder, elbow, and wrist joints should be at the same level

Elbow Lateral Projection: Part Position

• Pronate hand with palmar surface side down

• Humeral epicondyles perpendicular with plane of IR

• Place medial/ulnar surface of forearm side down

• Flex elbow 90 degrees

Humerus AP Projection: Patient Position _________________

• Upright with back against IR

• Seated at the end of the end of the radiographic table

• Supine with back against IR

• Arm abducted slightly

Humerus Lateral Projection: Patient Position _________________

• Upright with back against IR

• Seated at the end of the end of the radiographic table

• Supine with back against IR

• Arm abducted slightly

Humerus Lateral Projection: Part Position _________________

• Upper margin of IR 1.5 inches above the head of the humerus

• Supinate hand with humeral epicondyles parallel to IR

• Pronate hand with humeral epicondyles perpendicular to IR

• Arm abducted slightly
